Fractured Thoughts

Was playing around, uploading pictures to my 'scrapbook' thought I'd share some. These are of the dinosaurs in crystal palace park (actually it might be Dulwich park I always get the names mixed up but either way it is one of the park near my grandmother's house). They have huge dinosaur statues positioned around the lake (some of them have been there since I was a kid).

In a complete change in subject, I have finally stopped planning and started writing my hlh_shortcuts fic, I know about time, right? Am I horribly behind?

Have received my hlh_shortcuts assignment..... think I can do something interesting with that. Should be fun, I've never done a fic exchange before. *Looks at plot bunny enclosure* 'come here little plot bunny, it's OK I won't hurt you, come to Aunty Ellie'.... Ha Gotcha, hmm interesting but too... weird... for a fic exchange, *Goes away to find a sensible idea that doesn't involve shapeshifting cats* my brain can be strange place sometimes but where that idea came from I don't know.



 

Well my hl_flashfic fic has been sent with a whole ten minutes to spare :-). For such a short fic it sure took me a long to finish and edit. I will now find a bunch of different things I wished I had changed but that's true anytime I post anything.

Just remembered I'm doing the crack_van recs for highlander again this month (october) haven't even thought about what to rec yet. *Shrugs* re-reading my favourite highlander fics is hardly a chore, it's more trying to work out whether it has been recced before.

Anyway I think I got about 5 hours sleep total in the last two days so I'm going for a midday nap....

I've been watching 07-ghost, I can't make up my  mind whether I like it or not.... the set up and some of the episodes are great and then others I'm pretty much who? what? huh? Oh I dozed off and missed half of it oh well.

I knew I recognised Frau's voice too, and it was buggin me like anything feel much happier now I've looked him up. He's been in several animes I like but specifically he was Atobe Keigo, I knew I recognised that tone. This has made my inner fangirl happy and I have decided I do like the series now. Should be able to finish the series off tomorrow then I'll go back to mourning Bleach until the next episode is released. Yay Hitsugaya-Hyoinmarou centric episode next.

In the meantime I really must get on with writing my Caspian fic for hl_flashfic the deadline is not that distant, in theory I should be able to write the whole thing in one sitting, being quite short but it isn't cooperating yet.

So I don't actaully have anything to say I'm just posting because if I post today I will have posted everyday for a whole week. I'm fairly sure this is some kind of record for me. So go me.

While I'm here I might as well give a fic progress update.... now I have finished the second part of Reality and politics and my HL fic is being beta'd (new experience for me, but hey it means something I've written will actually have punctuation in the right places) I'm concentrating on the next part of Zero X, which probably won't be finished by the end of the weekend but I'm hopeful for early next week. (I can't understand why some things take me a fortnight to write and other things I can just sit down for half an hour and.. done). So I may have more of those How I spent my Summers ficlet things out  first i want to do some more of the Mag 7 boys and some of the pilots and maybe a few other characters from different fandoms.

Er.. right dinner, I'm off to forage for food.

Oh BTW, I still have several DW invitations if anyone wants one or knows someone who does.

Had a nice productive day, as well as getting my Mum a present, and being offered some more temp work I:

• Sent off my HL fic 'never ever' to be beta'd.
• Finshed a first rough draft of the next part of my 3x4 'reality and politics' ..... saga? (it certainly will get long enough to qualify if I end up writing all the scenes my mind comes up with) I'm thinking tomorrow today or wednesday it'll be ready. Not happy with it yet.
• Did another chunk of Zero X chapter 10 (maybe late this week, perhaps, no promises)
• and started plotting my Caspian fic for hl_flashfic .

That last may just give me nightmares I find it more disturbing to think these things up myself than to read them in someone elses words. Hmm... I sure am writing a lot of different things at the same time. I haven't touched thme today but I am also writing learning to communicate part 5, the prequel to zero X and a rather difficult little HL fic and I rreally want to write a short Mag 7 fic too (for a bit of variety).

Hmm... I have, I think finished the first draft of one of my never ending highlander one-shots. For something less than 4000 words long it sure took a long time to write. Definitely needs revising though, Duncan has a tendency to fade into the background, and I think we all know whatever else he may do the real Duncan doesn't fade into the background (well unless he's trying to track or ambush someone).

I think I shall work on part 2 of my TrowaxQuatre story (that has been bugging me) and then look at it fresh for editing.

It never ceases to amuse me that when I set out to write something what ends up on the page - or flickering screen- so rarely resembles what I originally set out to write. When I am lucky what emerges is better: wittier or deeper than the original story, often it is not. This latest highlander story I am writing though is just different. When I set out to write it, it had a clear purpose and a slightly less clear plot, instead I have a different story and Methos has once again taken over the pages. Somehow Methos has changed from one of several characters into the  main character, he is mentioned in every paragraph (even the one's he is not present for). For someone who spends so much time hiding, he sure likes to be the centre of things. Someday I will write a highlander story in which he doesn't appear at all and thus get my own back.

My other HL story has also been hijacked by Methos, that one is finished or almost so but there is something missing from it. It is very irritating I can't quite figure out how to get from almost the end to the end and each time I try, Methos opens his mouth again and starts baiting the other characters and I get another paragraph of banter that does nothing to move the story forward. It's all Methos' fault....

In other news (or rather other fandoms) I think I have Trowa and Quatre on the brain, have been writing their meeting into my zero X prequel and am suddenly hit with 3x4 plotbunnies which I am hiding from. They do not fit into any of the stories I'm writing and I am too busy to start another one.
   

I'm moving in a week, my life is boxes..... and tape, packed up another seven boxes so far today. Urgh I'll be happy when I'm all in and sorted.

It's official I watch too much anime, I was watching Wimbledon today and Federer hit a round the pole shot (I don't think I've ever  seen one in the real world before) and all I wanted to do was shout 'Boomerang Snake' at the TV. It's not like the shot really resembled the boomerang snake anyway, I'm just an obsessed fangirl.

My latest highlander fic is soo nearly done (of course it has been nearly done for a good week) it's just missing something, I feel like it needs another paragraph (or even two) just to make it work but I've run out of ideas ... Then this completely different fic bunny decided to come join the party so I may end up writing that first (which is very stupid of me).

Must write Zero X even if it is basically a long technobabble chapter. I can do technobabble especially as it's biochemical technobabble (that's my job after all). Wow though when you get Heero and Henry McCoy in the same room talking about science they won't shut up ^_^.

Yay I have finished the first draft of the next chapter of learning to communicate, shall edit it and post it tomorrow, then get working on Zero X, whilst my gundam wing muse is playing ball.

I owe it all to a wondeful little internet based program : write or die. Depending on the settings you use it prompts you, plays annoying music or deletes your writing when you stop writing for a period of time. It lends itself to quantity rather than quality of writing, but it helps me get stuff down and then with a bit of polishing it ends up reading as well as anything else I've written.

I still have the Charmed/SPN fic of doom to finish and I am working on two different highlander stories (one of them wants me to wirte two different versions too) and then there are highlander/DrWho and Mag7/DrWho plot bunnies that won't leave me alone. This is particularly bad because I am fairly sure I would have to rewatch several series of Dr Who before I could even start to get the voices right and I'm already doing that for supernatural ^_^. It's a hard life.
