Don't know  how many people have already heard but a couple of people on my flist have mentioned that delicious is shutting down (linking to this site) whether this is definite, rumour or something in between I reckon backing up is a good  idea.... probablyshould have been doing that anyway (I have over 1000 bookmarks on delicious and would be extremely upset to lose them). You can export your bookmarks to an html file here. I also signed up for an alternative... as much like LJ and DW I like the idea of having a live backup if the site ever does go down. I picked  pinboard because it will import my delicious and lets me use the same tags etc but there are various other alternatives out there. One of my flist did a post discussing them here

Anyway in better news hlh_shortcuts continues to post... a story for me went up today, which was lovely... Many thanks to whoever wrote it, I don't have a clue who you are (I'm terrible at guessing) but it was great.

I haven't commented on any of the fics yet because I'm trying to work out the best way to dothat without giving away clues for people guessing. Last year I commentedon  everything I read, including on the one I wrote.... I may go with this strategie this yar though at the moment I'm planning to wait for the reveal (I doubt my patience will last that long). I will say though to all the authors that I've really enjoyed all the fics so far, slash, gen and het even if I don''t know all the crossover fandoms.

I'm sure some people are getting bored of this whole facebook thing, but for those like me who are concerned about people crossposting their entries to facebook thought I'd spread a couple of links. Don't know if people have already seen these but a couple of people have come up with semi fixes which will stop anyone from seeing the crossposting buttons so long as they are viewing in your style. Not perfect by any means as it can be worked round but should prevent most honest mistaken overenthusiasm.

instructions 1

instructions 2

These seem to be two slightly different ways of doing the same thing. 2 is a little more step by step, for those like me  who are less computer literate.

Thingy's the technical term.... didn't you know.

Feel strangely unsettled and disturbed by this new function, it makes me nervous to use LJ at all. New inbuilt paranoia has me logging out of facebook just so I won't somehow accidently post something from LJ there.... Really do not want to introduce my colleagues and extended family to my LJ account in any way shape or form. (If I wanted them to find me my username would have been my actual name). So have no fear friends I will not be reposting anything from anybody there .... or on twitter for that matter.

I don't know what I think about someone else reposting something from my journal, I guess if it's unlocked it doesn't matter, anyone can read it anyway.... though I think on the whole I would rather that people didn't. Locked posts being reposted definitely would upset me though so please don't. Though I think the general consensus seems to be that no one on my flist intends to use that function anyway.

I've been really annoyed most of today because my internet was out and my ISP kept cutting me off when I phoned them. There is nothing more annoying than phoning a company to report a fault and have their automatic switchboard thing hang up on you after taking through all 6 sets of options...... I rang 11 times before I finally got through and then the guy I spoke couldn't access my account $%^&*.

Anyway it has now started to work again so I have given up on getting a train to their head office and screaming very loudly and maybe smash a few things. Probably just as well i don't think prison would agree with me..... I might not get 24hr internet connection there.

I'm working on another chapter of zero X this week (does anyone even remember that series :0) ). Next on the list is a Mag7 ficlet.....

Yesterday a twitter from Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) led me to this site

Look is songs about sci-fi and fantasy books and tv series and fandom in general ;0). I'm not much of a music critic (In fact I really don't have any opinions on most music ever) but the lyrics and the premise cracked me up and they sure are catchy.

Anyone who reads Neil Gaiman's blog may enjoy his latest song about the ever so cool "George R.R. Martin is not your bitch" post. The cylon one is pretty cool for the BSG fans and Summer Glau for the firefly fans and..... Um yes I'll shut up now *goes back to her cave to do something cool and non geeky, like err.... something--- I can do normal people things too.*
Sudden onset curiosity had me signing up for Twitter yesterday. At the moment it has the 'shiny and new' factor, and I've found a few people in a mostly haphazard way. I have no idea whether or not I will really use it but the link is here in case anyone wants to follow me.( I don't like that phrase it makes it sound like stalking).

I've been doing lots of writing in the last few days, both for the GW/xmen novella I've been working on and a rather experimental HL fic ( a different one to the one I keep complaining about and really should finish). I have also been attacked by yet more plotbunnies but I am ruthlessly ignoring them, I just need to make a quick list first.... that way lies madness and procrastination.

It's my nephew's 1st birthday today so I'm going over there later. I like being an Aunty I get to buy fun kids toys and take photos. And give the kids back when they start to cry.

He he, I just upgraded to a paid account, 'look Ma, no ads'.
Rather more to the point I can add more userpics :-)

Wonder what else new things can I do now? Ooo I can make polls or voice posts. Am off to explore.
Nearly finished those snippets, should post them soon.

This probably only makes sense to those who watch UK TV but I just love the fact they made a real site for this;

I'm back (in case the previous posts didn't tip you off). Yay I survived without the internet for almost a week, am glad to have it back. Hope everyone had a good Easter, been reading through all the posts, think I've commented on most of the fics at least.

Had a great time over at my Mum's went for long muddy walks and got snowed on (very strange weather for Easter) and tried not to eat too much chocolate. My usericon is my cat she was 'helping me' make the bed up (well I call her my cat but my Mum stole her when I went to university and has never given her back, so now I get visitation rights). Went to the Tate Britain Gallery was slightly alarmed when my Mum mentioned that she and her friend used to go there on their own when she was small, the idea of letting two ten year old girls go into and walk around central London on their own is unthinkable today or even when I was little. Shows how much the world has changed I suppose. Spent another day out shopping for something to wear to Mum's wedding, just need some shoes to go with it now (and to persuade my brother to give me a lift down). Managed to get over to see my Dad as well which was fun, his wife's daughter and her family were down too and we all had fun playing on their Wii and getting drunk.

Did a fair bit of writing as well so should have some more zero X ready to update this week and have done loads on both of my compositions for [profile] one_character, though I still think I'm only going to get one done. The Gundam Wing one I'm doing is on Sally Po of all people, which I'm finding interesting as I didn't feel like I knew her very well as a character so it's been a learning experience, I know some of you write longer work than that but 10,000 words seems like lots to me.

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd write a quick moaning message and an apology if I fail to reply to anyone over the next few days, it's not that I don't care I've just fallen off the face of the planet. I'm going to my Mum's tomorrow afternoon till sometime after Easter (haven't exactly made up my mind how long I'm staying could be up to a week). Anyway she is still stuck in the dark ages and I'll have no internet connection *is already getting withdrawal symptoms*. On the plus side I may actually get some writing done whilst not distracted by the allure of other peoples fics (maybe I can get at least one of the two [profile] one_character projects I started finished, I doubt I'll ever get both done).  Anyway will try to post an update for Zero X before descending into the medieval pit, they have wifi on trains now a days so if I can get a seat....

I want the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have given serious thought to paying for their internet connection but paying £10 a month (lowest tariff I can find) for something that would only be used a few times a year is rather stupid. *Goes to google Wifi hotspots in the area*.

Damn I sound really pathetic.
