Fractured Thoughts

Been awhile again. It's official ever since I started reading supernatural fic I've become a bad LJer, I haven't checked my flist in ages let alone posted. I'm blaming Dean Winchester it's clearly his fault... too much fic written about him.

Because it is fun (and I am nuts) I've signed up again for this year hlh_shortcuts - highlander secret santa. So I'll definitely write at least one complete fic this year. I think the last complete fic I wrote was for last years.... I do have more ficlets for various fandoms to post though :0).

Really looking forward to reading all the stories everyone writes for this year. If you're a new (or lapsed) highlander fan it's definitely worth checking out, the more the merrier and it always produces some excellent stories.

I'm hoping it will motivate me to write more in some of my other fandoms too, nothing like having one thing you're 'supposed' to write to make you want to write other things. But I'm not promising anything

Hi again, have decided that the only way I am going to get back into writing is to make myself. So I want to challenge myself to write drabbles/ficlets etc every night. So here is my challenge to write drabbles/ficlets (one a night) on the following pairings (some of which may end up gen). A month's worth of writing if I do one a night - that should get me into the habit. Here then is my todo list:

Feel like I have disappeared into a cave for the last week or so. It's a cave called Supernatural with some guys called Sam and Dean in it.
Years and years ago... (logic dictates probably 6 judging by current season number) I was really into the season, then midway through Season 2 I got sidetracked and I just didn't watch the next. I kept meaning to but never got round to it.... Then there were fanfics drawing me in and I found the Season 1-5 boxset for a (relative) bargain. So started again right from the beginning.

So now a week later.... Just started season 4. Give me another week or so and I'll be up to date :0). Am really enjoying it, despite already knowing the plot highlights (yes that's what happen when you read the fanfic when you're not up to date).

Anyway so that has been my life for the last week. Though strangely although I have plotbunnies, they are all Doctor Who plotbunnies.... I'm definitely shipping River/Eleven which will make the third het pairing that actually hands me plotbunnies. (Really must do something with the Hardison/Parker bunnies that are running around too).

Since everybody else is linking in light of the shiny new subscription button I am fractured_sun  at archive of our own.
Most of my various fics are up there (it's actually more up to date than my ffn account at the mo I keep meaning to update that one).
The main fandoms are Highlander and Gundam wing, with some Bleach, Magnificent 7, Charmed and random other fandoms thrown in for good measure. (Though currently my head is full of leverage so that may end up being added to the list of I get anything down on paper).

(I also have an AO3 invitation going spare if anyone has been wanting to join... and lots of dreamwidth invites too for that matter. If you want either just comment)

I'm doing the crack_van recs for highlander again for March.... Yay an excuse to re-read highlander fics (not that I need one).
Surprisingly it looks like no one's done a month since the secret santa. if this is true and not just tagging troubles, it will make picking fics that haven't been recced before soo much easier. I promise not to rec them all though and leave some for the next reccers to squee over.

I haven't really been doing much writing (except the occasional ficlet and drabble) but this will make me write again. Plus it was so much fun last time (even if I did go a bit insane getting my fic done, promise to self to finish in good time this time round instead of an hour or so before the deadline).

In other fandoms I'm going to try to write something for gw500 this week, the new dw mirror to LJ's GW500 community. This weeks prompt idea of using artwork is pretty intriguing and I already have a couple of ideas.

BTW if anyone wants a DW invite code I have  (slightly ridiculously) 12 going spare. So if you want one or know someone who does then drop me a line.

Am suddenly going through a Hikaru no Go obsession phase, re-watching and (re) reading all the fic I can get my paws on. I'd fogotten how fantastic most of the writing in that fandom is, seriously I don't think I've read anything that didn't seem like it was published author quality. Maybe I will get over my intimidation enough to try and make something of some of the HnG plotbunnies running around in my head. I still not sure how I can watch an entire series about Igo (several times) and still come out the other end with only the barest understanding of the rules.... Seriously I look at the games and it means nothing to me at all. I can't even follow the examples they have at the end to teach kids the basics, my brain just doesn't seem to work that way.

Other than that am awaiting my new kindle with baited breath.... I want my new toy now. I downloaded Kindle for PC in anticipation too, am still trying to get it to work.... for some reason it won't connect to let me register, despite good internet connection. Amazon customer service had me make sure it could get through my firewall and anti-virus but still no joy. Grrr.

I know several people are considering  leaving LJ following the whole FB crosspost thing... Personally I'm still hoping or some sort of opt out option or something people can use in their journals but if anyone wants a DW invite (or knows anyone who might) I somehow have a staggering 12 invites available.

Well yesterday I caved and bought more icon spaces for my LJ, I now have 250 icon spaces, so I don't have to keep  deleting icons to put in new ones. Hmm I need more icons to fill up the spots (after all not to use them would be a waste of money), I have loads of highlander ones and I haven't had a chance to look at the last of couple of challenges yet. Will have to hunt round for some in my other fandoms as well, I wouldn't want to be unfair after all :0).

I watched the latest Dr Who episode last night :0)... really liked this episode but now I have to wait a whole week for part 2 :0( I'm loving this new series.

Hmm what else... I feel I should apologise for being less active here than normal, I just don't have a lot of time in the week to read all the posts, yesterday I skimmed through 330 posts to catch up and I don't think I commented on any of them, sorry. This working full time thing is more time consuming than I remember it being (not helped by the hour commute each way).

I survived my third week at work :0) I know I have been a bit absent recently though I have just about managed to skim through the back log of flist entries. I used to juggle full time work and fandom before so I know it is possible I thought I'd best get back into writing things again, or I never will..... Wow I have quite the todo list, lets see what do we have:

• The Mag 7 ficlet I'm 3/4 of the way through, that if I could just work out what to do with would be finished in an evening
• The half completed over long charmed/SPN crossover one-shot (that probably wants to become a series but lets at least finish this one first).
• The highlander fic of slowness that when completed may or may not make sense depending on whether I can actually pull off what I'm attempting.
• Part 11 of zero X (GW/Xmen)
• Part 6 of learning to communicate (1x2 GW)
• Part 3 of Politics and reality (3x4 GW)
• The highlander/Dr who crossover that plotbunny that keeps bugging me
• The Mag7/highlander plotbunny that is almost as annoying as the HL/DW one.

Tonight I'm going to do some of that Mag 7 ficlet. Starting when I press post. This is my  nag myself post and I'll try to do at something towards at least one of the things on the list every evening, even if it is only open the file re-read it and try to come up with some ideas. Not to mention staying caught up on the flist.

I was browsing through my flist, skim reading over titles fandoms and disclaimers. A thought came to me as I read the disclaimers on Dr Who and Torchwood fanfics. Dr Who/ Torchwood belong to the BBC (the BBC owns them all,) I pay my TV licence therefore.... I own Dr Who and Torchwood, I bought them every year I have to send off another 130 or so pounds I am buying Dr Who and Torchwood. They are mine all mine Bwhahahaha, I own them (well me and a few million other licence payers).
