I wrote 400 words of part 3 of politics and reality (my 3x4 fic) today... yay must keep writing. Hope to have something new to post soon. My problem is I'm trying to work on so many things at onc I never finish any of them. I have not one but two Dr Who/highlander crossovers I'm working on, a highlander fic I've been writing for about 18 months, another highlander fic I decided didn't fit for hlh but I want to finish  writing. The mad highlander shapeshifting cats thing. A highlander/mag7 crossover, a Mag7/GW crossover and 3 GW wips. I'm sure there's more but that's all i can think of off the top of my head.

Meanwhile in a fit of constructiveness I've been updating my archive of our own site barring a couple of drabbles I think everything's on there now.... next on the list my fanfiction.net.

Right I tried this earlier and the html kept going mad so trying it again now.

hlh_shortcuts is all finished (If you haven't had a chance and would like to check out the new highlander fics they are indexed here.) Including a lovely Methos/Duncan fic [personal profile] mogwai_do wrote for me, "A Christmas Story". Here though (If the formatting is kind to me this time) is the fic I wrote for this year's fest. Many thanks again go to the awesome [personal profile] mackiedockie for the last minute champion beta.

Title The vacation
Written for dswdiane
Characters/pairing Duncan/Methos, Joe
Rating PG-13
Warnings slash
Wordcount 4500 words
Summary Methos is overprotective, MacLeod is understanding and Joe saves the day but who is manipulating who.

I had great fun both writing and reading again this year, so thanks to everyone who made it so much fun,  especially of course Tryfanstone. I now have dozens of little plot bunnies running around my head, so there may even be some more fic coming along.

Enjoyed the Doctor Who Christmas special tonight, there was plot holes big enough to drive a truck through (probably not helped by my Grandmother sitting next to me asking what was going on every 5 minutes, so maybe they were filled in whilst she was talking) but it was great fun and Matt Smith is a lovely and very funny Doctor.

Went from Dr Who to (sort of) Torchwood as I watched the Strictly come dancing christmas special, complete with John Barrowman competing. Not surprisingly he's a very good dancer. Though when Len Goodman (one of the Judges) said John Barrowman 'gave me jingle bells' in response to his dance I couldn't help think of that icon of [personal profile] pat_t 's which was a very scary mental image when applied to Len Goodman (wikipedia entry).

Just wanted to say....

Happy Christmas eve, hope you all enjoy the holidays.

The author reveals are up for hlh_shortcuts.... some seem obvious in hindsight others I never would have got in a million years.I must have said it before but I've really enjoyed the whole exchange both writing  and reading. So thank you to everyone who took part paricularly tryfanstone for all the modly type work.

Well all the hlh_shortcuts fics are up.... it's sort of sad that's it's over but for any highlander fans there's a whole treasure trove of highlander stories to read Well done to tryfanstone on running her first fest.

I'm trying to work out who I think wrote which, but I am terrible at guessing it'sstill fun to try and work it out.

No more work all year :0). I'm travelling down to my Mum's for Christmas tomorrow, which could be interesting as we've had lots of disruption on the trains the last couple of days (mostly from ice and snow). She has internet so I shouldn't be totally cut off but I don't know how much I'll get a chance to use it over the next week or so. I have a crazy amount of days off left which have to be used by the end of January so  I'm off work until the 10th how much of that I spend at my Mum's I'm not sure.

On a totally different note I've been working on part 3 of my 3x4 fic, reality and politics, though I think I may abandon what I have already drafted on it because this scene is not working and I feel like I'm just repeating bits of part 1 & 2, so I may time skip through it and move it on.

Oh and BTW I have lots and lots of dreamwidth codes (they keep giving me more even though I haven't got rid of the last lot). If anyone would like one or knows someone who might.....

Happy Yule Everyone !!!

(I've been wanting to say that all day... Why don't I ever see or talk to any Pagan's offline anymore?)

The good news is that delicious is apparently going to be sold rather than closed down :0). I'm still nervous enough about the whole thing that I'm mirroring my delicious account on pinboard: you can find mine here someparts of it I prefer to delicious other bits are annoying. I don't think I'll use it  except as a backup.

Awhile ago someone (I think it was marbleglove) mentioned that Adrian Brody in Predators could be Methos, so when I passed it I had to try watching it, and she was right.... Royce is so Methos, he even kind of looks like Peter Wingfield, well OK it's just the nose and the colouring but still. Royce is totally unlike Adam Pierson in everyway but I could totally see him Methos (former horseman and all). It makes me want to write crossover drabbles and it's not even a good film.... apart from the Methosness, watching it as a crazy highlander future made an otherwise bad film interesting.

Have done most of my Christmas shopping, today yay :0). The rest of it is for people I'm notseeing until after christmas so no panic buying on Christmas eve :0).

Don't know  how many people have already heard but a couple of people on my flist have mentioned that delicious is shutting down (linking to this site) whether this is definite, rumour or something in between I reckon backing up is a good  idea.... probablyshould have been doing that anyway (I have over 1000 bookmarks on delicious and would be extremely upset to lose them). You can export your bookmarks to an html file here. I also signed up for an alternative... as much like LJ and DW I like the idea of having a live backup if the site ever does go down. I picked  pinboard because it will import my delicious and lets me use the same tags etc but there are various other alternatives out there. One of my flist did a post discussing them here

Anyway in better news hlh_shortcuts continues to post... a story for me went up today, which was lovely... Many thanks to whoever wrote it, I don't have a clue who you are (I'm terrible at guessing) but it was great.

I haven't commented on any of the fics yet because I'm trying to work out the best way to dothat without giving away clues for people guessing. Last year I commentedon  everything I read, including on the one I wrote.... I may go with this strategie this yar though at the moment I'm planning to wait for the reveal (I doubt my patience will last that long). I will say though to all the authors that I've really enjoyed all the fics so far, slash, gen and het even if I don''t know all the crossover fandoms.

Yay I got my hlh_shortcuts fic in before the deadline (just). Much kudos, thanks and internet cookies to[personal profile] mackiedockie for heroically wading through my run on sentences to help me make it readable.

Double yay posting starts tomorrow..... new highlander fics I'm so excited. Anyone on my flist who isn't a member and wants to read them you can find the comm here, they'll be posting for about a week I think.

Anyone still working on theirs - don't panic. You can do it.

Well now I've finished that there's several highlander/ magnificent 7 crossovers that have been torturing me and I keep getting Bleach plotbunnies, not to mention the other highlander fic I decided not to complete for hlh.... I'm hoping to ride this to a wave of productivity.

Drat how is it the 13th already.... looks at hlh_shortcuts fic, it's almost there: it has a beginning, a middle and an end but, *tilts head and squints* something's missing between the middle part and the end and I still can't work out where to put that explanation paragraph... it doesn't really fit anywhere but without it, the fic doesn't make sense. Still nearly there, nearly there, ready for beta by bedtime tonight I hope. Yay :0)
Half way through the weekend and I have doubled my hlh_shortcuts wordcount today, but if anything I'm further away from finishing it than I was before. I've turned it from a little slice of life to something with *whispers* plot.....  Nooooo. At least I know sort of what's going to happen in it now. I blame Joe it was simple until he turned up. But it's flowing again :0) I love writing when it just flows.

7 days to hlh-shortcuts deadline.... yikes. Guess what I'm doing this weekend :0)
Really want to get it drafted before I go away Monday-Tuesday. It's coming along though so fingers crossed, just need to... Yeah well, anyway that's why we have weekends.
How's everyone else's going? Please tell me I'm not the only one with (what feels like) half a fic.

Ahh the amusing British, 'it's snowing should we go home?' debate has begun in the office. Considering how much time and energy we're spending watching the snow fall, looking at the car park and examining traffic update and weather forecasts I doubt it'd make much difference to how much we got done anyway.

Every year it snows and every year there's chaos, when you consider how some places regularly handle serious amounts of snow you would think we could manage a few inches. Still I would quite like to go home, just tossing up the day of doing nothing versus losing a day's (well half a day's anyway) pay. Then of course there's the question of whether or not I'll be able to get home.

So I was planning to finish my hlh-shortcuts fic this week as I will be away from 6th-7th it would be good if I could at least get it off to a beta before then (as the deadline is the 10th). With that in mind I have of course decided to abandon the fic I was writing and start a whole new one..... of course.

I prefer this new one I think, it's practically writing itself (which means finishing it before Monday is actually possible, and usually means the end product is better) and I think I actually have a (mostly) in character Duncan which is a first. So I have two partly written fics which fit the brief given, whichever gets finished (or if by some miracle I finish both) whichever is better will be my secret santa fic :0) then who knows I might have another fic to post in January.

Hmm... on a totally different note I was at the gym the other day and as I was leaving the changing rooms two cleaners came along. Was slightly bemused by the fact the female cleaner went in to clean the men's changing room and the male cleaner went in to clean the women's changing room. I'm sure there is some boring explanation involving rotas but it does seem an odd division of labour given that there was both a female and male cleaner there.

Yay it's friday, and yay a little more progress on my hlh-shortcuts fic. At the moment it's not so much a fic as unconnected paragraphs.... This is however a step up from bullet points so progress has been made. It's funny how my method of writing changes between stories.... Some start out as random ideas in bullet points and get written out of order as paragraphs more bullet points get added and turned into paragraphs and then (hopefully) the whole lot is fit together. Others I start at the beginning, and just write without benefit of plot and see where it takes me. (Amusingly the one's which basically are bullet points were written in order, from start to finish in one go). None of them ever turn out quite what I originally planned and whenever I read them back I am always surprised by which bits worked and find things I didn't even notice before. I always do when I read other peoples writing, but you would think that having written that I would know it inside out . Does anyone else find that with their writing?
Yay, my hlh_shortcuts fic has an actual plot :0). Some of the details are still a little - 'fuzzy', but progress is being made and the muses are currently cooperating (at least during work hours) .... they're probably lulling me into a false sense of security.

Bizarrely I have also started to write a gundam wing/ mag7 crossover. I think there might be one other person on the entire internet who likes both these fandoms, but the way it's unfolding it can be read as a new Mag7 AU or a GW universe fic from the POV of a bunch of OC's (probably with cameos from the GW characters).

Been going to the gym every other day this last week. Feel great, even if this hasn't apparently made any dent on the weight plateau I've been sitting on these last few months. Been circling between 155lbs and 159 lbs  for ages, this morning back up to 158 :-(. If nothing else the gym should get me healthier though :0).

Also going to give blood today, which always makes me feel virtuous and means guilt free biscuits :0).
Have actually started to write something for my hlh_shortcuts fic... it's a miracle. I have a whole 120 words done (all at work... :0)). Of course I only really have the one scene firm in my mind, hopefully the rest of the story will come to me later. Though another plot bunny that would work sprung up whilst waiting for the bus this morning. Maybe I'll start writing both and see which one flows better as I go.

I've sort of forgotten about the Mag7 mininano for the last few days, oops, am going back to it now. Why is it the only time I want to write is when I'm at work, and am thus... supposed to be working.... on things that aren't fanfiction. After all if I do it at work, I would probably have to say I get paid for doing it, plus you know eventually my bosses will complain that none of my work gets done.

In other news, now that I have been in my job 6 months (how did that happen it was supposed to be a short thing until I got a proper job) I get free gym membership. This means free gym, free swimming, free classes and free activities at any city council leisure centre. Brilliant :0)!!! So now I am back to regular exercise for the first time in months. Went to a gym induction on Sunday, swimming on Monday and today I'm going back to the gym. My shoulders and calves hate me but otherwise I feel fantastic. Hopefully that will get the scales moving downwards again too, would be nice to get down to the 140's for Christmas, it's great though when I think this time last year I was 195 lbs.
"1 out of every 10 people are born Gay. That means 1 of every 10 people are instantly put down, given bad labels, left alone, put in a minority and so much more, all for something they didn't ask for.

Gay teens are turning to suicide as a way of escaping.

If you want to tell them that life will get better, & you respect them for who they are, copy & paste this. Most of you won't, but let's see the 5% of you who will."

Taken from: lots of people
So I signed up to do 100 words a day in the Mag7wrimo.
Day 1 - 106 words of a mag7/hl crossover :0)

Right must go and do some of my hlh-shortcuts fic. I have one scene in mind, the rest of the plot sadly remains a mystery to me at this point.
Well I did say I was writing halloween ficlets.... Mostly not spooky and nothing resembling a plot in any of them but halloween themed none-the-less. Two highlander, one Mag 7 and one gundam wing. The second highlander has a touch of Duncan/Methos and Kronos/Methos but the rest are all gen.

Expandhighlander - Methos gen halloween fic )
ExpandMag 7 ATF - Vin Ezra friendship fic )

ExpandHighlander - Kronos halloween fic (sort of R rated, and Kronos being his charming self) )

ExpandGundam wing - gen zombie fic )

I nearly have a plot worked out for my hlh_shortcuts fic, all that's left is to actually put pen too paper or rather fingers to keyboard and write the thing.
