Fractured Thoughts

Wow haven't posted anything for awhile so here I am. Had my birthday on Wednesday, 1 year off 30 now (which is my personal deadline for having a decent job, home and life in general. I'm not totally unrealisitic I'm happy with another rented property so long as I'm not doing the student like sharing again).  Had a fun evening, my lovely housemates bought me champagne and chocolate cake before we headed off to the pub.  Completely blew the diet of course but I delayed my cheat day until then so it fits in anyway. Most of my family sent me money this year including my Grandmother who sennt a very generous #500 (my keyboard doesn't have pound signs) which should nicely fill in the difference between my income and the absolute minimum outgoings for a few months and hopefully by then I'll be earning again.

In my quest for fitness I decided to start doing the C25K (a programme which gradually gets you up running 5K a day in 9 weeks), I just did W1D1 (definitely need to work on that fitness). Though I am a lot healthier than when I started (or rather restarted) this fitness drive at the start of november. So far I have lost 19lbs and can now do the fitness videos I've been using without collapsing in a puddle of sweat half way through.

In more fannish news I've been working on another highlander fic 'old games' which has been about half done for months..... it's still about half done but it's a longer half done (it keeps growing). I'm going to start being more regulated about writing, doing a little every day. We shall see how that goes.

I'm currently at my Dad's for the New Year weekend, I'm supposed to be travelling back up to Leeds tomorrow morning to be back for Monday, but I seem to be coming down with the flu my Mum and her husband were suffering from. Will have to see how I am in the morning before I attempt the 5 hour train ride back up North. Am still hoping I fight it off  in the cold stages.

In a complete change of subject just wanted to say I thought the second part of Dr Who was much better than the first. Am lpoking forward to the start of the new series in the spring. Anyway I'm going to read and go to bed in the hope of waking up well. Night all.

I'm on the train down from Leeds, it's kind of fun travelling through the snow, so far it hasn't seemed to affect the train schedule.... I'm rserving judgement as who know what the London Underground or the trains to Kent are doing, my Dad was saying there were hour ong delays yesterday. It is kind of pretty outside my window though, and it's just right for Christmas. It's definitely deeper here than in Leeds.

It's snowing outside!!!! (duh, as opposed to inside the house, stupid self). So there's snow on the ground and everything looks all white and pretty and christmassy (at least until tomorrow when the inevitable transport failures will destroy the charm of the situation.... you think we could manage half an inch of snow but past experience tells me chaos will ensue). Anyway it's all nice and pretty and we have lights up in the front room and made some mulled wine and bought out mince pies and invited people over, hmmm. I don't think I realised before how nice mulled wine is.... I never really liked it before but it's actually really tasty and warming.

Then there's more highlander fics to read at hlh_shortcuts. I've been obsessing trying to work out who wrote each one, it's so much fun trying to guess. I'm a bit behind in commenting but i'm going to make sure I comment them all including the one I wrote so people can't tell (which is kind of weird, after all what comment do you give yourself?). All the fics have been really really good, intimidating when I consider the quality of my writing but awesome to read.

Tldr: I actually did exercise today and I didn't die

Am on the train down to London. I have on interview on Friday so am going to stay with the family this week as well as I'll be in the area. internet connection will be at best unreliable for most of it. So if I don't reply to a crucial post it may not be because I am rude and forgetful but because I can't get online. Happy birthday to strangevisitor7 and lil_1337 in advance.

On the plus side if I get any free time I'll probably use it to write rather than surf for fics and so forth. Optimisitically this may be an opportunity to get some progress on some of my fics. Even more optimistically this could mean I get offered a job and can therefore afford both rent and food (a shocking indulgence). I'm not holding my breath though, am feeling very rusty (it's been months since I've worked on the techiniques they want me for, have been 'revising' of course we shall see). I want a job..... just have to wait to see if I want this one, I  never make up my mind before I see the place.

Have been working my way through 'Burn Notice' these last couple of days (am now half way through season 2, being unemployed does have one advantage) it's really great am trying to work out why I've never seen it before. The crossover bunnies have been multiplying at an alarming rate, I want to read some too but I'm restraining myself till I'm up to date so I can avoid spoilers.

Sudden onset curiosity had me signing up for Twitter yesterday. At the moment it has the 'shiny and new' factor, and I've found a few people in a mostly haphazard way. I have no idea whether or not I will really use it but the link is here in case anyone wants to follow me.( I don't like that phrase it makes it sound like stalking).

I've been doing lots of writing in the last few days, both for the GW/xmen novella I've been working on and a rather experimental HL fic ( a different one to the one I keep complaining about and really should finish). I have also been attacked by yet more plotbunnies but I am ruthlessly ignoring them, I just need to make a quick list first.... that way lies madness and procrastination.

It's my nephew's 1st birthday today so I'm going over there later. I like being an Aunty I get to buy fun kids toys and take photos. And give the kids back when they start to cry.

I'm moving in a week, my life is boxes..... and tape, packed up another seven boxes so far today. Urgh I'll be happy when I'm all in and sorted.

It's official I watch too much anime, I was watching Wimbledon today and Federer hit a round the pole shot (I don't think I've ever  seen one in the real world before) and all I wanted to do was shout 'Boomerang Snake' at the TV. It's not like the shot really resembled the boomerang snake anyway, I'm just an obsessed fangirl.

My latest highlander fic is soo nearly done (of course it has been nearly done for a good week) it's just missing something, I feel like it needs another paragraph (or even two) just to make it work but I've run out of ideas ... Then this completely different fic bunny decided to come join the party so I may end up writing that first (which is very stupid of me).

Must write Zero X even if it is basically a long technobabble chapter. I can do technobabble especially as it's biochemical technobabble (that's my job after all). Wow though when you get Heero and Henry McCoy in the same room talking about science they won't shut up ^_^.

Yikes I'm going to be busy this month. I'm moving, again. Which I hate, I'm starting on the packing in the hope it won't be too rushed at the end. I really hate doing all the paperwork and cleaning and trying to get the bills sorted. It will be nice to be in a nice new house, I think I'll miss this one though. I'm still trying to find the third person for our house too, *stress*.

In LJ land I'm doing the highlander crack_van and signed up for another round with ficfinishing to finish off some of my highlander fics (anyone wiith unfinished fanfics should pop over and see if any of their fandoms are part of it. I got soo much done last month). Then I want to do the fixchange challenge too. Busy busy busy. No one come up with any fun ideas or absorbing fics until next month ^_^.

I should have a fic update ready this week, I hope.

I'm writing again ^_^, which is good. Not either of my GW WIPs at the mo though, sorry. Maybe tomorrow, I'm working on a highlander fic and a charmed/SPN crossover, both of which I started ages ago and have only just got in the mood to write any more of. When I get to posting stage is anyone's guess though.
