It's sign up time at Hlh_shortcuts again for the secret santa exchange :0). (here) After a little prevaricating I signed up again this year.... I haven't really been doing much writing (except the occasional ficlet and drabble) but this will make me write again. Plus it was so much fun last time (even if I did go a bit insane getting my fic done, promise to self to finish in good time this time round instead of an hour or so before the deadline).

I said I'd do an elaboration post:

Tryfanstone- As far as writing goes I'm happy to give anything a bash, though as I mentioned on the post I really can't write sex scenes.... not one's anyone would want to read anyway. I'm probably best at writing dialogue heavy fics,and the writing always goes smoother when it has Methos in it (make of that what you will) but I am happy to write pretty much any pairing or collection of characters.

Reading wise - Hmm.... well first of all the prompts are suggestions (and random phrases that popped into my head at the time) don't feel constrained by them but if you feel inspired by them then run with it. This probably isn't very helpful to give ideas but I generally like almost every highlander fic that comes my way (I'm not a big Richie fan but other than that I generally love the whole concept so much that just about anything makes me happy), so if you have an idea in mind even if it doesn't fit my stated preferences I will probably still love it. If you are desperate to know more on my favourite fics  you're welcome to check out which fic's I've recced on delicious here though there's rather a lot there to look through. I did mention I pretty much love anything highlander :0).

In other fandoms I'm going to try to write something for gw500 this week, the new dw mirror to LJ's GW500 community. This weeks prompt idea of using artwork is pretty intriguing and I already have a couple of ideas.

BTW if anyone wants a DW invite code I have  (slightly ridiculously) 12 going spare. So if you want one or know someone who does then drop me a line.

I signed up too - missed last year's entirely, have no idea how I'll fit this year's in, but what the heck ;)

:0) I saw you'd signed up, which made me pretty happy - yay more mogwai_do fic. Writing them is fun, but I so enjoyed reading them as they came out last year... Something great about being involved though.

Must admit I half thought I wasn't going to finish last year.... I started in good time but then got stuck and re-wrote the whole thing about a week before the deadline. I have never (yet) completed a fic more than 24 hrs before the deadline, this year will be the first.

I missed last year's entirely, not sure how, suddenly realised it was December and I'd never signed up *shrug* I did '07 and '08, I think I liked 07's fic better. It'll be interesting to see what I get, my writing has been exceedingly random of late - flitting between fandoms and styles and everything...

Last year was the first time I did it and stressful as it was it was so much fun to feel involved.

It was a lot of fun, even if I was pulling my hair out trying to get my fic finished. There are always some great fics from these exchanges, they probably account for over half the highlander fics written over the year. I'm really looking forward to reading them all.
