I'm writing again ^_^, which is good. Not either of my GW WIPs at the mo though, sorry. Maybe tomorrow, I'm working on a highlander fic and a charmed/SPN crossover, both of which I started ages ago and have only just got in the mood to write any more of. When I get to posting stage is anyone's guess though.

Ages ago I said I would post some of my photo's from Germany so here are a few of the better ones.

Hey everyone, posting from the train again, am going back home to my nice reliable broadband connection :-), which makes me ridiculously pleased.

Found a whole load of old letters at my Dad's that I was sent by friends on holidays or when starting univeristy before everyone emailed each other all the time. Am beginning to understand my Mother's and Grandmother's insistence that letters are a nicer touch and more personal, they do seem more special although it is practically the same act. I was really pleased to see them, it makes me feel all nostalgic.

Er yes I was going to update you on the writing.... for some reason my GW muse is very shy at the moment (my apologies to everyone waiting for updates of my WIP, I will try to get some mored done this week). Highlander seems to have eaten my brain though I keep getting new fic ideas, now I just have to get them to sit still for long enough to pin them to the page. So in short I will try to get something ficcish out this week, probably a highlander based update.

Got back from my little holiday in Germany. Am reunited with my one true love - the internet. I'm currently investigating what treats (posts) have been left in the last week.

I had a great time in Germany. I'm left feeling like an ignorant tourist though, all the people out there seem to speak English so well. I could only just about manage to thank them and add numbers to my pointing at menus. It was lovely to go out there with friends, the area we were staying in wasn't touristy (one of my friends lives out there) and it was really nice just to go out without all the extra fuss of a tourist hotspot. There is some lovely countryside out there, I left my camera cable in Leeds but at some point I may put up some photos.

Anyway I haven't had much sleep and am probably not overly coherent so I will stop babbling and go to bed I think, just wanted to say I'm back and just generally squee over my holiday.

I got fed up of having to ask my poor housemate to print out different versions of my CV and cover letters at her work so I finally bought myself a printer. It is amazing how many times something needs to be printed out (I never even noticed when I was working, you just did it) not having access to a printer has been really bugging me.

Really pleased it was cheap ~£30 (thank you Dad, good use for those Amazon vouchers you sent) and it scans, copies and prints both colour and b+w (just have to see how reliable it is over time). Have been playing with my new toy and scanning old cards (thus the new icon).

Yay

( Apr. 8th, 2009 08:30 pm)
Am very excited, going to Germany with some of my friends next week. I have that strange unsettling feeling that I have forgotten something crucial - ticket, passport, EIHC, insurance, money - no I can't think of anything. Oh damn will need my laundry to be dry before I can pack it (always seems to take so long, hopefully it'll be dry by Saturday morning).

Have just realised I have never been to Germany before, how did I not know that?

Should really try to get out a fic update before I go hmm. Perhaps giving myself a deadline will motivate me, nooo don't want to...

Am just posting to say.... Yay Pancakes!!! My lovely housemate has been making them for me (so I didn't even have to stress over ripping them or how the electric hobs never stay at the correct heat).

Is anyone giving up anything for lent? I never do but this year maybe I will try to give up procrastination ^_^ (oh look, hitsugaya has been playing in hell).

Spent most of this week doing random cleaning tasks, the house has never been cleaner. Well except for when my Mum and stepdad came to visit and I didn't want to get disapproving looks. It is official being unemployed, is boring me (finally after 5 months, I was sort of enjoying it, in a mild and controlled panic way) I think this has more to do with the fact finding nice long fics I haven't already read is getting tougher than any improvement in my work ethic. Am trying to ride the new constructive wave to send out loads more applications, so nobody infect me with a new fandom to take up my time until I have a job.

I went hunting for the paper part of my driving licence this afternoon, I finally found it but I think I need to create a new filing system. At the moment any 'important documents' are shoved into a large box in a big pile. My thesis is then balanced on top to keep the lid closed, I'm thinking box files would be a good investment.

I'm going to get the fic snippets I owe done tonight, I AM, really, (if anyone else wants one just comment on the post I made). I also have several drabbles, I've been writing them whenever I can't think of anything to say on the fic I'm supposed to be working on ^_^.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted or messaged me to say happy birthday, I had fun going for a meal with some of my friends here and indulging in far too much chocolate cake ^_^. I have both book tokens and Amazon gift vouchers to spend now, so that should keep me out of trouble for a bit.

Am still writing the next chapter of Zero X (at the moment I am trying to create a realisitc radio conversation, I'm not doing very well with it yet) , and after the requests from reviewers on ff.net another chapter to my highlander ficlet houseguest is also being written.

Anyway I was wondering if any hl fans have a link for a highlander timeline, that includes all (or most) of the immortals (either official or fan written). There are several I've found by the power of google for individual characters but nothing that puts it all together, otherwise I'm going to end up spending weeks writing my own I think, to try and keep everything straight. (Going through all the watchers chronicles is fun but rather timeconsuming).

Yay, having posted the 2nd chapter of learning to communicate, I am now a paragraph or maybe 3 from finishing the next chapter of zero X after months of no inspiration (or rather laziness), just have to get Quatre to cooperate. The whole new year guilt has been great for motivation.

I was supposed to go back home today, *looks at time* well I suppose it's yesterday now but we had just a little bit of snow. The british railways being what they are I decided I didn't fancy the potential delays and cancelled services and so stayed an extra day at my Mum's (unemployment has its benefits), packed and wrote and organised my tags on old fics whilst they were at work. I am such a swot. Anyway am pleased I feel like progress has been made. Have to go back tomorrow am working, in the place I actually no longer work (for free, I must be mad), this week trying to help get them sorted.

Ooo and it's 12th night, don't forget to take your decorations down. (Or is that an exclusively British deadline?)

Just a quick post to say happy new year everyone, and good luck for 2009.

My livejournal new year resolutions )

Hope you all have a fun night, will try to post something ficcish tomorrow. I have this massive highlander plot bunny which involves rewriting ~3000 years of human history and could easily turn into a very long novel, - it's a what if the horsemen never disbanded and ruled the world story (and I promised myself my next highlander fic would not involve the horsemen, oh well). Am trying to decide whether or not it's even writable.

( Dec. 21st, 2008 11:38 pm)
Hiya hope everyone had a happy Yule. It's always been one of my favourite days, what can I say I'm weird. I'm back at my Mum's for the Christmas period so that's fun: cooked meals and all, and this year she actually has the internet (success). Am meeting up with old school friends tomorrow which should be great fun, haven't seen them in about 6 months, funny how a group of people I only see about twice a year are still my best friends (not that I don't also appreciate the friends I see every day).
I've actually been writing again (wonders will never cease) I may actually finish and post something before Christmas (though that does mean finishing it tomorrow as I'm off till boxing day on the 23rd).
Anyway happy holidays everyone.

Hey everyone, just want to prove I'm not dead

See am typing therefore can not be dead.

I'm supposed to be writing the rest of my submission for the [livejournal.com profile] gundam_herald  competition, not to mention the next chapters of my two WIPs (which are both partly written and shoved in the dark corner of my hard drive where documents go to die) but my brain keeps returning to this truly awful highlander/bleach crossover idea which must never see the light of day because it's terrible -Ichigo meets Richie and they help Duncan fight Ahriman *shudders* (If anyone thinks they could actually make something not terrible out of that feel free) it can't make any less sense than the canon anyway.

Just been to the job centre, I'm now officially on job seekers allowance, is it bad that I find the idea quite exciting? Have never claimed any sort of benefit before and it has novelty value.

Just moved house so am (for now) still living out of boxes. Chaos reigns and I can't find anything, have been off work all this week, first day back to day, and I'm still circumnavigating boxes to move anywhere. I think I have managed to destroy both my back and my knees though and my shoulders have been complaining all day, and I was so careful to make sure I bent at the knees when lifting boxes. I spent most of yesterday trying to order my books to keep series together, am starting to think I have too many, if such a thing is possible, as I have filled all the bookcases in the house and have only opened about half the boxes. Oh well it will all work out in the end I suppose. If I were not so attached I might sell some but I have found I get seperation anxiety at the idea of losing any of my books. All is right with the world though as my internet connection has now been set up (though it is still a little spotty as they have 10 days to stabilise the connection or something).

Wow been a long time since I last posted. Both life and work have been manic and I haven't really had any time to write. Nice long Bank holiday weekend this weekend though, and nothing planned no excuse not to finish that chapter I've been working on.

Spent most of today watching Dr Who, I hadn't seen any of this series but I downloaded them all this week and now I'm almost up to date, just weeks  and  this  weeks  to  watch.  I was  surprised  I wouldn't have thought Catherine Tate would work well with Dr Who but actually they spark off each other quite well. I love saving up lots of episodes of things and watching them all back to back, you can really get into a series then. That's why I only watch Bleach every month or so, gives me enough episodes to sink my teeth into.

Anyway better go, time for bed but this can be said to be my promise to get some writing out this weekend.

We've been moving our lab and office (again) at work, so I've spent  pretty  much all week  putting everything into large blue boxes and dismantling  equipment. All this manual  labour  has left  me absolutely exhausted. Needless  to  say  this means that no actual work has been going on all week, and most of next week will be chaos as well as we unpack everything  *sigh*. On the plus side we will have nice newly refurbished labs to work in on the minus side half the equipment will get broken in the move and take forever to fix.

I told my supervisor I would have a draft of our journal publication completed for Monday, but with the moving I've hardly done any of it. So I should really spend all weekend doing something I would otherwise have spent all week doing (that's going to be fun). To make my week complete took my hard bound thesis copies to the graduate office for final submission and I've got the wrong year on them because I misread the instructions (Insert copious amounts of swearing and cursing at self here) so now I have to get the whole thing reprinted and rebound.

OK I have finished my whinge now. I have the next chapter of Zero X written in my head so am going to try to commit it to computer screen (I can't say paper) this weekend, and something for GW500 too if I have time. Read- am procrastinating from the work I ought to be doing. My Mum sent me this forward the other day which just made me laugh so I thought I'd share it and thus perpetuate the spam:

Hey everyone,

Been in to town and managed to buy some shoes to go with my outfit for my Mum's wedding next month. Success. So am feeling vaguely organised for once, a feeling magnified by the fact I managed to find a house for next July, so I'm going to have somewhere to live next year, yay.

Anyway I'm just taking a tensy tiny break, I'm less than 500 words away from finishing my [profile] one_character entry for this month, just as well the dealine's tomorrow. Tell you what if I end up doing one next month I'm going to pick a character I'm a little more famliar with, Sally's been fun (in places) but it was hard work. Phew *wipes brow*.

Once that's finished I can go play with the plot bunny that's been growing in the back of my head since I saw the prompt for this weeks [community profile] gw500 or write some more Zero X perhaps, both of these being much more fun to write than the journal publication for work I ought to drafting. Oh well who want to do work over the weekend anyway, how hard can it be to write 2000 words in a week (has flash back to the agony of viva writing) OK I promise to take a decent crack at the paper tomorrow.

So OK have finished procrastinating now, I'm going back to finishing my story - just one more prompt to do, wish me luck.

I'm back (in case the previous posts didn't tip you off). Yay I survived without the internet for almost a week, am glad to have it back. Hope everyone had a good Easter, been reading through all the posts, think I've commented on most of the fics at least.

Had a great time over at my Mum's went for long muddy walks and got snowed on (very strange weather for Easter) and tried not to eat too much chocolate. My usericon is my cat she was 'helping me' make the bed up (well I call her my cat but my Mum stole her when I went to university and has never given her back, so now I get visitation rights). Went to the Tate Britain Gallery was slightly alarmed when my Mum mentioned that she and her friend used to go there on their own when she was small, the idea of letting two ten year old girls go into and walk around central London on their own is unthinkable today or even when I was little. Shows how much the world has changed I suppose. Spent another day out shopping for something to wear to Mum's wedding, just need some shoes to go with it now (and to persuade my brother to give me a lift down). Managed to get over to see my Dad as well which was fun, his wife's daughter and her family were down too and we all had fun playing on their Wii and getting drunk.

Did a fair bit of writing as well so should have some more zero X ready to update this week and have done loads on both of my compositions for [profile] one_character, though I still think I'm only going to get one done. The Gundam Wing one I'm doing is on Sally Po of all people, which I'm finding interesting as I didn't feel like I knew her very well as a character so it's been a learning experience, I know some of you write longer work than that but 10,000 words seems like lots to me.

Tagged by [profile] salamandereNever been tagged before am ridiculously excited by the prospect.

Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 random things, facts, goals, or habits about yourself. At the end, choose 10 4 people to be tagged, listing their names & why you chose them. Don't forget to leave them a comment (you're it!) and to read your blog for instructions. You can't tag a person who has tagged you. Since you can't re-tag me, let me know when you've posted your blog so I can read the answers!

Eeek I have to think of ten things?

Yikes I have to tag 4 people, OK looking at my f list for people who haven't done this yet or been tagged by someone else (please feel free to ignore this if you don't want to do it)
[profile] snakewhissperer, [profile] femaleshinigami, [personal profile] yanagi_wa, OK forgotten who else has done it or not so anyone who has not been tagged and wants to do it.
