Well all the hlh_shortcuts fics are up.... it's sort of sad that's it's over but for any highlander fans there's a whole treasure trove of highlander stories to read Well done to tryfanstone on running her first fest.

I'm trying to work out who I think wrote which, but I am terrible at guessing it'sstill fun to try and work it out.

No more work all year :0). I'm travelling down to my Mum's for Christmas tomorrow, which could be interesting as we've had lots of disruption on the trains the last couple of days (mostly from ice and snow). She has internet so I shouldn't be totally cut off but I don't know how much I'll get a chance to use it over the next week or so. I have a crazy amount of days off left which have to be used by the end of January so  I'm off work until the 10th how much of that I spend at my Mum's I'm not sure.

On a totally different note I've been working on part 3 of my 3x4 fic, reality and politics, though I think I may abandon what I have already drafted on it because this scene is not working and I feel like I'm just repeating bits of part 1 & 2, so I may time skip through it and move it on.

Oh and BTW I have lots and lots of dreamwidth codes (they keep giving me more even though I haven't got rid of the last lot). If anyone would like one or knows someone who might.....

hlh_shortcuts was a really good fest this year. I still have a ton of stories to read through.

*hugs* Be safe and having a good holiday.

One of the hard lessons I have learned about writing is that sometimes you have to brutal and ditch what you have written for whatever reason. It's hard to do when you have invested time and energy, if it is not working it needs to go.

Oh yes, I tend to get stubborn about things I've written 'you are going to work the way I originally wrote it.' I've learnt to be a bit more fluid about it, though I always save the paragraphs I ditch if I liked them (maybe they were interesting but just didn't fit in to this fic).... sometimes they get reworked into drabble or ficlets, or even the jumping off point for a whole new story.

Happy holidays. I'm safely down at my Mum's,journey wasn't too bad in the end and I'm once again very glad she caved and installed broadband :0).

Yay for broadband when dealing with relatives.

I usually just delete what I have written and start over.

I've started working through the Highlander fic, lots of great stuff to read, but it's going to take a while. I've really enjoyed what I've read so far though.

Enjoy your Christmas :)

They're great aren't they? There are so many really talented authors. I always think mine must be glaringly awful (orat least glaringly mediocre) in comparison, but everyone's too polite to rip it to shreds and I enjoy myself so I'll keep coming back.

Have a great holiday :0)
