Methos hijacked my brain and Trowa and Quatre are breeding plotbunnies

It never ceases to amuse me that when I set out to write something what ends up on the page - or flickering screen- so rarely resembles what I originally set out to write. When I am lucky what emerges is better: wittier or deeper than the original story, often it is not. This latest highlander story I am writing though is just different. When I set out to write it, it had a clear purpose and a slightly less clear plot, instead I have a different story and Methos has once again taken over the pages. Somehow Methos has changed from one of several characters into the  main character, he is mentioned in every paragraph (even the one's he is not present for). For someone who spends so much time hiding, he sure likes to be the centre of things. Someday I will write a highlander story in which he doesn't appear at all and thus get my own back.

My other HL story has also been hijacked by Methos, that one is finished or almost so but there is something missing from it. It is very irritating I can't quite figure out how to get from almost the end to the end and each time I try, Methos opens his mouth again and starts baiting the other characters and I get another paragraph of banter that does nothing to move the story forward. It's all Methos' fault....

In other news (or rather other fandoms) I think I have Trowa and Quatre on the brain, have been writing their meeting into my zero X prequel and am suddenly hit with 3x4 plotbunnies which I am hiding from. They do not fit into any of the stories I'm writing and I am too busy to start another one.

The 3x4 bunnies do that. They do that all the time and they don't seem to mind how hard you try to hide. I've been hiding for years.

Methos never quite got over his world domination stage he still does it all the time.

3x4 should be fluffy and fun, instead I am plagued by angsty bunnies that want me to write long fics in which everyone is miserable, and will probably then die. Am not entirely sure what this says about my mental state but surely can't be good.

That sounds about right both for Methos and 3x4 bunnies. They do that, and it's impossible to hide. Don't write and they will eat your brain.

Oh and 3x4 bunnies, fluffy? (read a comment further down). Since when? Mine never have been.

I like reading both types of 3x4 fics.

It just makes me sad when my 3x4 bunnies find realism more interesting than the fluffly perfect relationship that really only exists in drabbles. This bunny wants to drive them apart and make them miserable :-(

He just likes aggravating me too much and sending me off on tangents... generally I bow to his wisdom and get some more dialogue out of it, unfortunately what I don't get from it is any closer to finishing anything :-)

Yes and he talks and he talks but he never really admits to anything and thus the fic grows and grows and gets no closer to the end.

The only way out is to not open the door in the first place, but I need my Methos fix.

It's really more of a catflap, I am convinced Methos is really a cat he has the personality traits down.
