New computer

I'm typing this on my new Eee PC. Yay :-), kind of fun, seems to work great. Different to type on though, getting the hang of it.  It even fits in my handbag.

Excellent, I love my new toy.

Yay, buy one, (who needs food or a roof over your head so long as you have a shiny new little computer). Was quite surprised I actually have a larger hard drive on this than on my proper laptop.

I just got a desktop..and before you ask why no netbook, I know which ones I want, a 904HD or a 1000H, and I can't get either in Linux flavour. And i refuse to give windows another sale!

so i'm looking at a starling...but they're more expensive...and having just go the desktop..and i need that for work, so i had to get that first...

i still want one.

Ah are you a subscriber to the the windows is all that is wrong and evil in the world crowd. I'm afraid I'm a subscriber to the Linux is complicated and scary crowd partly because I've only used Linux a couple of times and had to ask for detailed instructions for every step I was doing.

That might have been because we were doing molecular dynamic modelling and not really an indication of Linux being user unfriendly. I know most people who know how touse linux swear by it. So I bought a 904HD which had the added bonus of coming with Windows rather than 'I'll probably accidently blow it up' Linux.

A shiny new desktop can be fun too, and there will probably be a cheaper and better option soon so don't worry.

nope, I'm a subscriber to the 'I need to learn linux for work and the best way to do that is to immerse myself in it as if I don't have windows I don't have an excuse to use it and i'm definitely not paying for something i'm not using - money is too tight' crowd.

Ubuntu is pretty linux friendly, talk to the folks on ubuntuforums.org if you want to learn more before ever going on to it. They are smart and know all.
